To Death
Noah Conard
"What Lies Beneath"
Kaylie Cargill
I build up my walls to keep you out
You overtake everyone without cause—rendering them hopeless
Yet I’m told you are good and natural
You don’t care about me or anyone
As far as I see it you hurt more than you help
When others leave before us we are stricken with you
Leaving us alone with tears of anger and sorrow
asking—why so soon?
Or—what’s the point?
But we don’t get to know the point
For there is a plan that is for each of us that we can’t see
At least that’s what the book says it must be
So here we wait knowing that it’s inevitable—
And eventually, it will be you and me.
