"Birds in the Sky" Siarah Wade
The window stood open,
And the doors were all locked.
Wind grasped at my heels and plucked at my shirt.
The crisp, cool autumn breeze wisped around my wrists and whispered in my ear.
Regret encouraged my footsteps, and nothing was there to hold me back.
Everything in the world was coaxing me forth
Like a child longing to go.
Eyes watched me slowly trudge forward
while sunlight gleamed in
The beams spread warmth across my face like a blanket, but
The window stood open…
And all I had to do was jump.
