It's Terminal
James Woolard

He waits in their favorite park,
fidgeting with his fingers nervously.
She's beaming with excitement as she walks up to him.
It fills him with despair to have to crush that smile.
"Hey, baby! Why'd you want to meet me here so suddenly?" she asks.
"I have something to tell you, and it's not good news."
He looks down at his feet; he can't look her in the eyes.
A flash of worry spreads across her face.
"What's going on? I'm sure we can get through it together."
"Something is wrong with my heart. It's slowly eating away at itself."
Her eyes widen with terror.
Her once cheerful, hopeful smile disappears.
"It's terminal."
